MIAMI (AP) — Six Romanians have been sentenced to prison terms in the U.S. for a bank automatic teller skimming operation that stole data from people’s bank cards in South Florida.

The six previously pleaded guilty to bank fraud conspiracy in Miami federal court. They were sentenced last week to prison terms ranging from just under three years to nearly seven years.

Authorities say the group secretly installed devices called skimmers on ATM machines. The skimmers allowed the ATMs to work normally but recorded data on bank cards. A tiny camera also recorded people’s PIN codes. The group then made counterfeit cards and used them to steal from people’s bank accounts.

Court documents show more than $340,000 was stolen from 314 accounts.
